ECE Pathway

  • The Early Childhood Education Pathway (ECE) is a CTE Program that is part of the Education and Training cluster.

    The Course Sequence is as follows: (4 credits are required)

    1. Child Development 1 or Child Development 2 (preferred)

      • 1 block, 1 credit course - recommended starting point, but not required for completion - discuss this and other options with your guidance counselor

    2. Early Childhood Education 1

      • Required - HONORS - 1 block, 1 credit course

    3. Early Childhood Education 2

      • Required - HONORS - 1 year, 2 credit course - 2 blocks 

    4. Optional Work-Based Credit

      • at least 180 hours in an approved classroom setting - 1 block, 1 credit course - will require additional time beyond a single, 1 semester block to achieve the full 180 hours required

    Possible Industry Credentials to be earned:

    1. 15-hour Pre-sevice Health and Safety Training (ECE 1)

    2. Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED (ECE 2)

    3. ServSafe Food Handler (ECE 2/Ch. Dev. 2)

    4. Praxis Paraprofessional Exam (by application in ECE 2 or WBC)

    5. Child Development Associate (by application in ECE 2 or WBC)
