February began the journey of Smart Snacking, and Chartwells traveled the district showcasing fresh Smart Snacking recipes for students! Students at Hammond Hill Elementary enjoyed sampling Homemade Hummus served with carrots. Many students had not previously tried hummus and were surprised that something so simple could taste so good! At Mossy Creek Elementary and Cyril B. Busbee Elementary, Chef Taylor’s sample of the day was Elotes-style Corn, a delicious snack option that many students were ecstatic to learn is simple to recreate at home. To wrap up the Smart Snacking events, students at Greendale sampled Sunbutter & Banana Roll-ups, and were excited to take home all of the educational tools needed to help them create their own Smart Snacks! All students were provided with recipe cards to take home, and fun activity sheets to help them further their Nutrition Education journeys! Below you can find photos from these events.
