JOHN SPIRES

John Spires, the Child Nutrition Program Manager at North Augusta Elementary School, has dedicated nearly two years to serving students and positively impacting their lives, one meal at a time, within the Ï㽶ӰÊÓ. The Gloverville-native spent close to a year honing his skills in the kitchen at Gloverville Elementary before seizing the opportunity to lead the kitchen at NAES.

The inspiration to follow this career-path stemmed from witnessing the hard work and dedication of his mother, Terri Spires, who serves as the Child Nutrition Program Manager at Aiken High School. Because of this, John was able to channel his leadership skills to continue making mealtime an enjoyable experience for Aiken County students.

For John, the most rewarding aspect of working in the Child Nutrition Program is being able to interact with students and having the opportunity to bring them joy through exceptional service and tasty food. When asked to nominate a manager for the Child Nutrition Program Manager of the Month, his supervisor, Eileen Drum, expressed that she wanted to bring John recognition because “he has been an encouragement to our department and (herself)”. She firmly believes that he will continue to make a difference at North Augusta Elementary.

Outside of the kitchen, John enjoys spending time with his wife of 16 years, Rachel, and their 13-year-old daughter, Cadence. In addition to family-time, he enjoys fishing when the weather permits and indulging in his favorite cuisine, Chinese food.
