Colonel (US Army Retired) Maxie L. Joye
 

Colonel (Retired) Maxie L. Joye is currently serving as the Senior Army Instructor for the JROTC Program at Wagener-Salley High School. He also serves as the Rifle Team and Head Track and Field Team coach for Wagener-Salley. In addition to his duties at Wagener-Salley High School, Colonel Joye served as the Commandant for the JROTC Cadet Leadership Challenge (JROTC summer camp) held at Fort Jackson, SC for the past eight years . Colonel Joye is an officer with more than 27 years of service as an Active Duty, Active Guard Reserve and Army Reserve soldier.
 
Colonel Joye was born in Lee County, South Carolina. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Health and Physical Education from Saint Augustine’s University in Raleigh, North Carolina in 1978 and a Regular Army commission as a Second Lieutenant in the Transportation Corps. He earned a Masters of Art in Management from Webster University in December 1999 and a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Phoenix in 2012.
 
His military schooling includes the Command and General Staff College, the Logistics Executive Development Course, Combined Arms Services and Staff School, and Transportation Advanced and Basic Courses. COL Joye is also a graduate of the Department of the Army's Intern Program for Comptroller.
 
COL Joye retired from the Army on October 1, 2005 as the Assistant Chief of Staff, Reserve Affairs, Fort Eustis, Virginia. His other assignments as an Active Guard Reserve Officer include Deputy Director for The Army School System Integration Element located at Fort Jackson, South Carolina; Mobilization Planner for Logistics, Fort Lewis, Washington; Chief, Operational Readiness Evaluation Team, 5th United States Army (Forward), Fort Lewis, Washington; and he served as the Assistant Professor of Military Science, Northwestern State University of Louisiana, Natchitoches, Louisiana. 
 
His Army Reserve assignments include the Assistant Logistics Officer and Transportation Service Controller, 75th Division (Exercise), Houston, Texas; and Logistics Controller and Division Transportation Officer, 80th Division (Training), Richmond, Virginia. 
 
He served on Active Duty as the Transportation Instructor/Writer, United States Army Quartermaster School, Fort Lee, Virginia; Chief, Training Support Division, Quartermaster Center, Fort Lee, Virginia; Transportation Company Commander, Battalion Logistics Officer, and Maintenance Officer, 4th Transportation Battalion, Ludwigsburg, Germany; Battalion Training Officer and Platoon Leader, 10th and 24th Transportation Battalions, Fort Eustis, Virginia.
 
COL Joye’s awards include a Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Commendation Medal with 5 Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Achievement Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon and the Army Parachute Badge.
 
COL Joye is married to the former Karen L. Jones of Augusta, Georgia. They are the proud parents of three wonderful daughters: Karen Alexis Joye-King (Charles) who resides in Kansas City, Kansas; Kristina Joye-Lyles (Michael)  who resides in Atlanta, Georgia; and Kandace who resides in Houston, Texas. He is the grandfather for five beautiful grandchildren, Karington, Brynnan, Kayson, Connor, and Stone.
