Mrs. Kathy Abney

Welcome to the 2023-24 school year. I am very excited to have each of my students in my classroom! I am looking forward to a fun, exciting, busy year with lots of learning! I cannot wait to see all of the knowledge that will be in these kiddos' brains at the end of the year.

Why do I teach? I teach for the joy of seeing my students grow day to day throughout the year. It makes me so happy when I see the excitement of learning in each of them.

I have been teaching at Oakwood Windsor for 27 years. I have taught first grade for 26 years and second grade one year. I have seen a lot of changes and a lot of students. I love to have my former "kids" come back to visit me and see how their lives have developed. I have begun to see my students come back with their own children and many of those have become "my kids".

I have been married for 41 years and have 2 children; one son and one daughter. I have 5 precious grand-daughters and one adorable little grandson that the whole family is over the moon about- they are just a little spoiled :)!  We are so excited to spend time together with lots of giggles, screaming, and bouncing when everyone is together.  I am a huge dog lover and have 2 at this time. My class will learn about these babies and all the silly things they do. My favorite places to go are the lake, beach, and the mountains. I am also a huge Gamecock fan!!

I am looking forward to this year and all the fun it will hold!

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to email me, use class Dojo, or call the office and I will get back to you as quick as I can.
