2023 Summer Reading Calendar X Marks the Spot!
Reading 15 to 20 minutes a day will keep you on your game for the next school year! Mark each day during June and July, you spend time reading with an “X” and have your parents sign your chart.
Bring your completed reading chart to North Augusta Elementary School and turn it in to your teacher by August 4, 2023. Students who turn in their reading chart will be entered into a drawing to win prizes!
PARENTS: Research has consistently documented the importance of summer reading. Students who read recreationally during the summer do better when the new school year begins. Studies show that students who do not read during the summer show a significant loss over the summer break. Research has shown that reading just four or five books during the summer can prevent this achievement and learning loss. The purpose of North Augusta Elementary School’s Summer Reading Challenge is to encourage students to engage in self-selected recreational summer reading to prevent learning loss and to foster improved student achievement.
