Mrs. Kellsey Simmons Grimes

Hello! Welcome to the Reading Intervention classroom for grades 3-5. I am so happy to be joining the Jefferson Elementary team this year to help our students become strong, confident readers! As the reading interventionist, I will spend this school year working in small group settings with readers who need some extra help reaching their grade level.

I graduated with my Bachelor’s Degree from Clemson University in 2016 and spent 4 years working in financial account management before earning my Master’s of Arts in Teaching from Kansas State University in 2020 and earning my teaching license. Before becoming a reading interventionist, I was a fourth grade teacher at Millbrook Elementary.

My husband, Zach, and I both grew up in Aiken and graduated from Aiken High school. We have two little ones, my daughter Ryan, who we welcomed in April of 2020 and my son, Rowan, who we welcomed in May of 2023. In our free time we love spending time outdoors with our three dogs (Waylon, Macy and Cassie), travelling to the beach and cheering on the Clemson Tigers!! I hope to have a great year with each one of your kiddos!!

I am passionate about teaching each and every one of my students! It is my goal to provide every student with the basis to succeed not only in the classroom but also in life. I will strive this year to provide a safe and positive environment for my students that fosters their creativity and challenges their thinking. I feel that communication is essential to classroom success and will make it my top priority to communicate with you. Although my class does not have a separate class dojo, I am available for contact through your student's message center as I am linked with all of the 3-5 class dojo accounts.
