Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Heather Shuler

My name is Heather Shuler.  I am a graduate of Winthrop University and an avid Georgia Bulldog Fan.  I have been teaching for the past 28 years.  I have taught first, second, and third grade.  I have been a first and second grade teacher at Belvedere Elementary for the past 25 years.  I absolutely love being part of our special Belvedere family.  This year I have taken on a new role as a reading interventionist.  Even though I love having my own classroom full of students eager to learn, I am looking forward to being able to reach out to students at all grade levels with differing abilities.  I believe in building strong relationships while building academics.  I look forward to watching my students grow this year in both their confidence and ability.
I have two sons named Jared (age 22) and Hampton (19).  My oldest son recently graduated from Charleston Southern and got married in July.  I'm very excited about what the future holds for him, the same way I get very excited about the future of my own students, including hearing about all of their adventures and accomplishments year after year.  My youngest son, Hampton, is starting his senior year in high school, which is extremely hard for me to believe.  Learning that he had autism when he was very young was hard at first, but he is truly a blessing and has taught me how important it is to enjoy the small steps and accomplishments.  I try my best each day to focus on these same types of accomplishments with my students as well.
