Welcome everyone. My name is Cheryl Curtis and I am delighted to be serving as the Media Specialist at Aiken Intermediate, home of the Explorers! Prior to joining the staff at Aiken Intermediate, I had the pleasure of serving as librarian at Jackson Middle, Oakwood Windsor Elementary, and Chukker Creek Elementary. My classroom teaching experience includes: third grade, fourth grade, fifth grade, sixth grade, eighth grade, and gifted and talented.  My passion is, you guess it, the library!

Professionally, I am a member of the South Carolina Association of School Librarians where I proudly participate and support the South Carolina Book Award Program.  Serving as a past president of the Children's Book Award Committee brought me great joy. It is always very rewarding for me to be able to read and promote wonderful books.  Equally exciting is finding out each year which book the "students" vote for as their favorite!

On a personal note, I am a proud product of Aiken County Schools. I attended East Aiken Elementary, Kennedy Middle, and South Aiken High School. I obtained a B.A. in Elementary Education from USC-Aiken and a Master's degree in Library and Information Science from USC (Go Cocks!)   I married my high school sweet-heart, Roger, after college and we are the proud parents of two beautiful daughters and one precious granddaughter.  My hobbies include reading, traveling, and spending time with family.

I welcome you to the library media center.  I hope that it becomes a "home" for you, a place where you, the stakeholder, will want to  read, research, and explore.
