Welcome To AIS Camp Endeavor!
My name is Dr. Laura A. Bacon. I will begin my 34th year as an educator in ACPS during the 2023-2024 school year. I began my career as a fourth grade teacher at Aiken Elementary and remained there for two and a half years. I taught sixth grade science and/or social studies for sixteen years at Kennedy Middle. I served as an Assistant Principal at Aiken High for three years and the Principal of Busbee Elementary/Corbett Middle Schools for four years. I served as the Middle Level Social Studies Content Interventionist for two years. After retiring in November 2017, I returned to my first love--teaching--in 2018.
I had a wonderful school year this year. I am so excited to meet you and learn and grow together. I hope that you love to read and write because we will do a lot of reading and writing this school year.
I love spending time with my family and friends, traveling, and gardening. This summer, I plan to travel and go off-roading in my new Jeep. I also plan to spend time with my daughter and her husband in Savannah. She is expecting my 6th grandchild in October.
During the summer, I will also continue to learn and grow professionally so that I can be an even better teacher to your child. I will plan engaging standards-based lessons and read A LOT. You and your child should too!
