Mr. Mark Spaulding
Hello! My name is Mark Spaulding and I'm excited to be teaching STEM at AIS for the 2023-24 School Year! My wife and I moved to the area in 2020 from the Kansas City area...Go Chiefs! This will be my 30th year of middle school experience...10 as a science teacher, 3 as a STEM teacher, and 17 as an assistant principal.
We'll learn about lots of exciting subjects this year. While we will be building on topics learned in Core Science, we will be infusing our approach with applied science, technology, and engineering skills and processes. We will also study Computer Coding, Microorganisms, Weather and using interactive weather maps, Endangered Species, and the role of Technology on people, society, and history. We will also have various problem-solving scenarios to tackle. Our focus on the Scientific Method will be blended into our classroom and should result in our students thinking and looking at the world through a different perspective as the year goes on.
I have animals in my classroom and I love nature! I enjoy hiking, fishing, and traveling. My wife and I are heading to Mexico this summer, and I will be hiking, fishing, and collecting specimens for our classroom! Feel free to reach out if you have any questions!
