Fourth grade students have been working very hard on their state stamp project in art class. Each student chose one of the 50 US states or territories to research, researched interesting facts about their state, and created a visually appealing postage stamp design. We explored how postage stamp campaigns can encourage tourism and increase interest in a place if designed correctly.

  • Clay Update and New project

Posted by Sarah Walters on 3/1/2020 8:00:00 AM

4th and 5th grade students have finished their clay projects and they are going in the kiln this week! After firing in the kiln students will add a glossy coat of glaze to their artwork and they will be fired a second time.

While we wait for those projects to finish, we are working on one and two point perspective drawings. 4th grade will be designing their own room using one point perspective, and 5th grade is creating their own city block using two point perspective. Students in Mrs. Robinson's 5th grade class will also be constructing a 3D model of their city block in groups.

Fifth grade students will be learning how to construct more complex forms and shapes by using the clay to create a sculpture that looks like food. Yum!

We will be updating with photos of student work as the projects progress.

This past week, students have been wokring on creating an abstract background for their artwork using oil pastel, crayons, paint, and paper.
