Miss M. Robinson Philosophy of Education

My philosophy of education is one of fair education.   Every child in America is entitled to a good education beginning at the primary level.  All children are capable of learning and they should be given the opportunity to learn all that they are able to learn.  In today’s society, there are so many opportunities for learning, but these opportunities cannot be taken advantage of unless our children are nurtured, taught and presented with these privileges.  America’s school system should be based upon fair education.  It should not be based upon which schools are better funded; therefore, they will automatically be on a higher learning level than other children.  Each child needs to have the same opportunity for leaning, regardless of his/her ethnicity background, religion, sex, or origin.  In my opinion, all schools need to be integrated fairly. 

The individual needs of our children require specific one-on-one attention, so that they will be able to receive the kind of nurturing that is required.  Our children require education that teaches them about cultural history and that gives them the basic fundamental values of learning.  These values should consist of an excellent foundation in reading, writing, and mathematics; focusing on the child’s strengths and building those areas in which they are weak. 

At the pre-first grade level, all children need to be taught how to read beginning with identifying phonics in writing and reading. Basic mathematics skills such as counting, recognizing numbers, and identifying colors and shapes also need to be taught at the early childhood level.  Our children need to be taught how to respect themselves, others, and how to follow instructions.  Education begins with good basic skills.  Each school should be equipped with up-to-date technology and excellent dedicated teachers, with the purpose of teaching and nurturing students.  Teachers should be willing to implement an exciting lesson plan for the children, which will make them more enthusiastic about their education.  When this type of program is developed, our children will be confident about entering into the next grade level and become eager to gain knowledge.
