BA Spanish MA Education

Mrs. Wanda Bush

Hi!

Hola!

I am so glad to meet you all! This is my 15th year of teaching Spanish. I started learning Spanish in high school and continued on into college, the military and, finally, back to college to finish my major in Spanish at USC Columbia with my masters at Lander University. I am always learning Spanish in conversations, literature, music, television, and periodicals. One always builds on the learning of their interest. My interest is Spanish. What is yours?

My approach to teaching Spanish is to find out your interests and future plans and try to create a learning plan for Spanish around those interests, plans, and needs. Connecting lessons to your interests, plans and needs allows you to be more in the driver's seat to learn Spanish for real application in the future. Today, there does not seem to be any jobs that do not, at one time or another, require the use of Spanish. I am excited to be on your journey to acquire a new language and an opportunity to get to know many new people in life!

I hope you had a great summer. After an exciting end to last school year with "Cinco de Mayo and the Battle of Puebla", we can look forward this year to beginning the year exploring Hispanic Heritage and, hopefully, rainforests. We can expect more hands-on experimentation to drive our level of Spanish to a more advanced level.  Your homework is to look for opportunities to use the Spanish you know. Just communicate. Don't worry about grammar. Have fun! Experiment to see how well you can communicate in the real world and come tell us all about your experiences! For everyone new, Bienvenidos!

To those who are new, Welcome! We try and create learning Spanish into the most real-world simulation as possible given the constraints of the classroom. Expect to leave your phone in your backpack at the door and enter our endeavor to bring a part of the Latin culture alive in the classroom. Let's start speaking Spanish! ¡Olé!
