Degrees and Certifications:

Mr. Vaughn

I was born in Flint, Michigan but I moved to New York City when I was in the 5th grade. My formal education led to an Associate degree from Atlanta Junior College, a Bachelor of Science degree from Indiana University/Purdue University, and a Master’s degree from Lesley University. I proudly served four years in the United States Army (Special Forces). I have been married for 47 years and I am the father of four children, and grandfather of eight. I retired from the Richmond County School system and began teaching in South Carolina. After teaching for two years at Aiken Middle school  the district decided to change it to a 6th grade academy, I transferred to North Augusta Middle school. My experience includes teaching at Tubman Middle School, Hephzibah Middle School, Sego Middle School, Laney High School, T.W. Josey High School, Paine College Math Science Engineering and Technology Program (MSET). Prior to teaching, I worked for several years as a pharmaceutical sales representative for Marion Merrel Dow Corporation, until the company was sold.

In my spare time, I like to work on various construction projects, gardening, listening to music and dance. I’ve considered retiring, but for what? I actually enjoy teaching science to children it is rewarding and helps keep me young at heart.
