Welcome to the Den, North Aiken Bears!!

My name is Ja'Kima Carter, and I am your second grade teacher. I currently reside in Aiken, South Carolina, with my twin sister. Teaching is just one of the many hobbies that I enjoy. In my spare time, I enjoy drawing, painting, shopping, spending time with my family and friends, coaching basketball, and doing community service with my sorority sisters from the Kappa Gamma and Denmark Alumnae Chapters of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated! 

I am a 2016 Graduate of Lander University with a B.S. in Early Childhood Education. Go Bearcats! I have been an educator since 2017. This is my fourth year at North Aiken Elementary (NAiES). I previously taught in Dorchester School District 4 at Williams Memorial Elementary School in Saint George, South Carolina. I taught kindergarten and second grades for two years each, and a year and a half in third grade. 

The motto that I live by as an educator is to, "Love First, Teach Second". To me, this motto means that if I can genuinely show my students I care about them, then the teaching part will come easy. Students are more willing to listen and learn when they know you only want what's best them. Especially when you show them with actions and not just words ! 

This year Ms. Carter accepts the challenge to motivate and push all of her students to be come exceptional learners who want grow and excel this '23-'24 school year. I want to challenge all students to commit to learning and growing in the Bears Den. #ChallengeAccepted
