Teoria is another great website to help students master the various components of music theory.  It is separated into four sections.  They are Music Theory Tutorials, Music Theory and Ear Training Exercises, Music Theory References and Articles.  Just like musictheory.net, it goes from the very beginning to advanced level music theory.

Musictheory.net is an excellent website to learn and hone your knowledge of music theory.  What makes music work and why.  It has separate sections for Lessons, Exercises and Tools.  It is designed to take you from the very beginning level all the way to college level theory.  It is interactive and can be repeated as often as desired.  The exercises are scored so you can see what was missed and correct it.  It is useful for all musicians, band, vocal, strings and guitar.  The tools include a pop-up piano, a tempo tapper and music paper generator.  This site is free to use. 

The companion Tenuto App

Tenuto is an enhanced version of the exercises and calculators for your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. Each of the fifteen exercises and five calculators uses a friendly touch interface that is fully optimized for all screen sizes across all devices.

Tenuto requires no Internet access — continue your musical training while sitting on the bus or relaxing on the beach.  This app may be purchased for $3.99.

The Sightreading Factory is an interactive digital application designed to help musicans of all levels master the art of sightreading.  It focuses on and emphasizes many of the same cognitive functions that are related to language skills.  Good sightreading ability is the mark of a true musician.  The main features of this application are stated below.  A one year subscription to this application is regularly priced at $35, however, if enough students are interested in subscribing, a lower rate is available.  For example, if we have 25 students subscribe through the school, the price is only about $5.50 each.  The more students who subscribe, the lower the price. 

The resource cannot be overstated.  Students are always coming to me asking for music.  With this program, unlimited music is available.
