LCDR Jim Moore, USN (Ret)

 

Lieutenant Commander Moore is originally from Alabama, graduating from Samford University in Homewood, Alabama with a Bachelor of Arts in Education in 1991 and an Master of Science in Education in 1993. 

He began his Navy enlisted career as a Cryptologic Technician, serving from 1979-1983 before joining the Navy Reserves from 1984-2001, where he received his commission.  Through the 1990's he was an English teacher at a public school in Birmingham, Alabama.

A pivotal career change happened when he was mobilized to Bahrain soon after 9/11, which offered another opportunity to serve full time in the US Navy.

The following years' assignments took him to tours of duty in Georgia and Hawaii, as well as in Afghanistan & Iraq.

LCDR Moore retired from Fort Gordon, Georgia in January 2017 and began working at Midland Valley High School the next month as an English teacher, then in 2019 took the position he presently holds as the Senior Naval Science Officer at Midland Valley High School, Navy JROTC.

LCDR Moore has been married for 35 years and has two adult daughers and 2 grandchildren, Graham & Evie.
