Aiken County Veterans Council Donates Funds to Local NJROTC Programs, Including MVHS

Aiken County Veterans Council presented $3,000 in support for local Junior ROTC programs at the council’s Feb. 5 meeting. A $500 donation went to each of the programs at Wagener-Salley, North Augusta, South Aiken, Midland Valley, Aiken and Silver Bluff high schools.
Lowell Koppert, the council’s chairman, invited representatives of each school to step forward for a picture and check presentation. Among those on hand as representatives were Mervin Watford, Austin Mecalf and Chrystine Palau, of Wagener-Salley; Keira Tallent, Athena Washburn, Claude Davis III and Isamarie Vazquez, South Aiken; Dylan Hartley-Lawston and Lydia McGhee, Aiken; Ava Conger and Madison Cabral, North Augusta; Ivan Richardson and MacKayla Thompson, Midland Valley; and Starr Broome and Ryan Atchison, Silver Bluff.
Wagener-Salley’s program, which also receives students from Ridge Spring-Monetta High, is associated with the Army. The county’s other five programs are associated with the Navy.
