Dr. Trina L. Smith is a licensed Cosmetologist and Barber instructor in both South Carolina and Georgia. She is a native of Aiken, South Carolina, where she graduated from Aiken High school in 1991 and in 2015 moved to Augusta, Georgia. She was the cosmetology teacher at the Aiken County Career and Technology Center where she had been for the past 22 years. She recently took on a position as the Program Administrator of the Marion E. Barnes Center, but decided that she needed to come back again to the Career Center and teach Barbering. Dr. Smith owns a salon on Laney Walker Blvd. She plans to build up the community in which she lives.

Trina is a mother of two, stepmother of three. She states that as a young child and growing up poor, she was determined to make her circumstances different then her upbringing, and wants to do the same for other children. Trina takes pride in the fact that she lives by her heart and not by societal rules. She likes that fact that she was always considered “weird”. When asked if she could describe herself in a quote she said” I am what I am”.

Trina holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from the University of Phoenix, a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Grand Canyon University and is a graduate of the National Beauty Culturist League where she holds a Doctoral degree in Cosmetology. She is currently back in school, obtaining an Eds in Educational Leadership at Augusta University.
