Hello and welcome to Aiken Elementary! I am looking forward to working with Kindergarten through 5th grade resource students this year as their Special Education teacher. I will be doing inclusion services with kindergarten and first grade this year going into classrooms to work with students in the general education setting and serving small groups of students in my classroom in order to provide students with their least restrictive environment.

Before entering the field of education, I was a Registered Nurse for 13 years, working in ICU, CCU, and surgery. After moving to Columbia, South Carolina, I worked as a school nurse at Red Bank Elementary and it was there that I realized teaching was in my heart. I graduated from the University of Tennessee with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education in 1984. In 1994, I returned to UT and earned my Masters in Education, majoring in Early Childhood and Curriculum and Instruction. My teaching experience includes kindergarten, special needs preschool, and resource. This is my 37th year of teaching. I taught in Knoxville, Tennessee before moving to Aiken and I have been at Aiken Elementary for 20 of those years. I have 1 son and 2 wonderful grandsons. I love animals - particularly horses - and was a certified therapeutic riding instructor for PATH for many years as well as a certified Special Olympics Equestrian Coach. I currently share my home with 3 dogs, 3 cats, and 2 parrots.
