Welcome to kindergarten! I am looking forward to an exciting year! I am anxious to get to know you and your child. I would like you to get to know me, also.
I graduated from the University of South Carolina Aiken with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Early Childhood Education in 1998. After graduation, I moved to Chicago, Illinois. I graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago with a Master’s in Education Degree in Instructional Leadership in 2003 and a PhD in Educational Psychology in 2010. This is my twenty-fourth year of teaching. I have taught three and four-year-old pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, and first through fifth grade special education.
This is my thirteenth year teaching kindergarten at Aiken El. My daughter, Margaret, went to school here and Aiken El prepared her beautifully for middle and high school! She’s starting 10th grade this year. My son, Quinn, is in fourth grade this year, so I’m an Aiken El parent right along with you! I have absolutely loved being a part of this school community-as a teacher and as a parent!
I believe that school should be an exciting part of a child’s life. I will strive to foster an excitement for learning in all of my students.
