• What is Diesel Technology?

Diesel and heavy equipment technicians repair and maintain construction equipment such as bulldozers, cranes and road graders; transportation equipment such as heavy trucks, buses, locomotives, ships and automobiles; and farm equipment such as tractors and combines. These technicians use a variety of computerized testing equipment to pinpoint and analyze malfunctions as well as numerous power and hand tools to perform repairs. They also serve a variety of other diesel-powered equipment, such as electronic generators and forklifts. Many technicians perform a broad range of repairs from engines to electrical systems and others specialize in repairs such as fuel and starting systems.

ACCTC Diesel Program gives students the opportunity to practice shop and work safety, locate and interpret repair specifications and processes, remove and replace components, operate tools and equipment, and service/repair/diagnose the condition of defective components or systems. Students are able to take their National ASE certification test in their senior year, better preparing them for jobs in the industry.
