Homework Policy

Students have homework Monday–Thursday each week to ensure they are receiving extra practice on the skills they learn every day in the classroom. All homework is kept in their orange folders and needs to be returned to school daily.

• Reading: Students should be reading for at least 30 minutes each night. Each month, students will receive a themed bingo that allows them to experience reading in different ways, such as reading while eating an apple or reading to a sibling. We encourage our students to read daily to promote language development and literacy skill-building.
• Spelling: Every other week, students will receive a list of spelling words. In addition to the list, the student completes a spelling bingo to practice those specific words in more than one way. This helps students develop a strong connection between the letters and their sounds and learn high-frequency words.

Homework is extended to each student to experience another opportunity to review class materials and give parents a chance to see what is being learned in school!

Behavior Plan

• This year, our school kicked off a ticket-earning system. These ROAR tickets are earned by exemplifying positive school behavior within the classrooms and throughout the hallways. As a result of outstanding behavior, students are able to spend their tickets biweekly at our school-wide ROAR store.

Graded Paper Folders

• There will be yellow, clear-cover folders that will be sent home every other week that include graded papers, important notices from school, and your student's updated progress report. Please check your student's folder every other week, sign it, and return it to school with your child the next day.

Classroom Supplies

• Our classroom could always use donations of snacks, disinfectant wipes, Lysol, tissues, and pencils. Thank you!
