My name is Heather Wright. This is my seventh year teaching at JD Lever Elementary where I am a member of the first grade team. This year we will be focusing on positive praise and I am so excited! JD Lever is a school rooted in community and I could not be more excited to be a full-time member. I believe that each student is capable of learning, and just needs someone willing to give them the time and effort to foster their unique skills. Student-centered learning has always been important to me and I plan to implement this in my classroom. 

I am a graduate from USC Aiken, where I graduated with honors for the second time. My first degree is in communications, but after many volunteer hours in Aiken County (and suggestions from other teachers) I went back to school for Early Childhood Education.  It comes as no surprise to those around me that I followed this path because of my past work with children, but also because teaching is a passion that is common in my family. Seeing those around me so selflessly put themselves into their work with such valuable results with their students only made me love teaching more. I am a product of Aiken County Public Schools and it is truly a blessing to be able to reach young minds in the same district where I gained so many valuable connections with educators.

This school year we are focused on being a family in the classroom, and  celebrating what makes each of us special. I want everyone to know they are supported in every way. I am determined to always give my best to my district, school and most importantly my students.
