Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Joanna G. DiPeppe, NBCT

My name is Joanna DiPeppe. I just finished my third year at South Aiken High School. I am a National Board Certified Teacher who was hired by Aiken County in the summer of 2021 after four years of teaching in Maryland and 20 years of teaching at Satellite High School in Brevard County, Florida. While in Florida, I taught AP English Language and Composition primarily to 11th graders (from the fall of 2000 to the spring of 2021). While there, my program surpassed district, state, and global results, and was highly respected by the community. In addition to AP English, I also taught English II, English III, and a course called Creative Communications, in which all grade levels were represented. Finally, I served as the Speech and Debate sponsor for over 10 years, coaching my students through district competitions and community showcases. No matter the role, I dedicate myself fully to my students and their families, and now I am bringing my experience and passion to the students of South Aiken High School, where I am again teaching AP English "Lang," and Creative Writing. Additionally, I am coaching South Aiken's new Speech and Debate Team.

On a more personal level, I am married to Jason DiPeppe, also an English teacher at South Aiken. He and I have taught side-by-side since our internships in 1995-1996, so we make a great team. Additionally, we have one son, named Dominic, who is a sophomore at the University of Florida, and we are so proud of him. But I would remiss to leave out our other family members: our dog, Huckleberry; our cat, Bella; and our pony, Sweet Pea' and our mini, Miss Penny. As a family, we are happy to have moved on from beach life to barn life here in Aiken. :)

To close, I am excited to be a part of the South Aiken family, and I hope to serve each of you to the best of my ability. Thank you in advance for your support as I continue this new journey.

WIN time availability: Generally, I am open both halves, except during Speech and Debate Club meetings and courtyard duty. Specific information will be posted on my classroom door.
