Eowyn Garman and Justin Hsu earn spots on SCBDA All-State Honor Band.
Congratulations to Eowyn Garman and Justin Hsu for earning spots on the South Carolina Band Directors Association (SCBDA) All-State Honor Band!
Students had to prepare an audition including playing memorized scales within a time limit, a timed and memorized chromatic scale over the range of their instrument, five Italian music terms selected from a list of 45-120 terms given their grade level classification, a prepared prescribed one-minute solo, and read and play two pieces at sight that they have never seen before. Students audition first at the Region level and those with the top scores on their instrument are invited back for a call-back audition with the top Region students from six other regions across the state. The final audition takes only the top 4-24 musicians in the state.
Eowyn Garman and Justin Hsu were two of nine students from Aiken County Public Schools to earn spots on the Honor Band and will be recognized during the April 19, 2022 School Board meeting. Congratulations to Eowyn, Justin, and our Band Director, Mr. Neil Nelson.
