Ms. Michelle Butts

Hello everyone!

I am Michelle Butts and I am currently in my 27th year of teaching.  I graduated from West Virginia University in 1997 (Let's Go 'Eers!) and then moved South for my first year as a teacher.  I have taught elementary education and special education in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia, but Aiken County is my favorite.  I have taught in Aiken County Public Schools for 20 years and I do not want to teach anywhere else.  Out of my 27 years of teaching, I have taught special education for 15 of those years.  As a special education teacher, I believe all students can learn if they are in the right environment and have the confidence in their own abilities to know they have potential.  I am very excited about starting my first year at Byrd Elementary School!

When I am not at school, I enjoy spending time with my two kids.  My oldest is 12 and attends Kennedy Middle School.  My youngest is a third grader at Byrd Elementary.  I love to cook and bake while I am home, as well as watching movies and playing games with my kids.  I am also a huge fan of West Virginia University sports and can be found watching football and especially basketball while at home as well.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns that you may have. The best time to reach me for an immediate response is between 9:25-10:20 while I have my planning.  I will answer emails as soon as I can throughout the day, as well. I can be reached at:
