Ms. Keyatta Priester from Aiken Electric Co-op was Byrd's honorary principal for the day on November 15, 2019.  Ms. Priester gave our principal the day off by taking over some of her duties.  Ms. Priester also brought along Ms. South Carolina 2019, Morgan Nichols.  Ms. Nichols is a graduate of Clemson University with a degree in genetic engineering.  Her platform for this year is STEM in schools.  STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math.   Ms. Priester also brought Kellan Fenegan, Miss South Carolina Teen USA.  She shared her platform of foster care awareness with our students.

  • PRINCIPAL FOR A DAY

In fall of 2018, Aiken County Public Schools held its first Principal For A Day event.  Community leaders and elected officals were invited to experience first-hand a day in the life of a school administrator.  Quite an impressive group of community, business and politial leaders were included. The list included mayors of both Burnettown and New Ellenton, The Mayor Pro Tempore of Jackson, county council members, HR Managers, CEO's, vice presidents, business owners, board chairs, directors, writers, radio personalities and pastors.  They joined us to learn more about the inner workings of our public schools an demonstrate their support for public education.

This year's list includes many prominent community leaders who share the common goal of improving our city and our education system.
