Hello, Hornets!

I'm thrilled to be a part of the Aiken High School family as a mathematics teacher, and I can't wait to embark on this exciting learning journey with all of you. I will be teaching Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Calculus Honors, and AP Calculus this year.  Allow me to introduce myself:

My name is Priya Nair, and I am incredibly passionate about education and the power it has to shape young minds. With 26 years of experience in teaching high school mathematics, I bring a wealth of knowledge, enthusiasm, and a deep commitment to fostering a positive and enriching classroom environment. I started my teaching career in the US at Orangeburg Wilkinson High School in 2008. In 2011, I joined Blackville Hilda High School and enjoyed being part of the Hawks community for 12 years. In 2023, I joined Aiken High School.

 I had my initial education in India, where I obtained my Bachelor's in Science with a Mathematics major, my Bachelor's in Education with a focus on secondary Mathematics education, and my Master's in Computer Applications. There I had the opportunity to delve into my academic interests and gain a solid foundation in teaching methodologies. This background equips me with the tools to create engaging lessons that cater to various learning styles and encourage curiosity. My teaching philosophy revolves around fostering a deep appreciation for the beauty and significance of mathematics while equipping students with the skills and mindset needed for success both inside and outside the classroom. I believe in creating a supportive space where every student feels valued, respected, and empowered to take ownership of their learning journey. Through active participation, critical thinking, and open dialogue, we will explore mathematical learning in ways that go beyond the classroom walls.

I believe that learning is most effective when it's enjoyable, so you can anticipate hands-on activities, group discussions, and collaborative projects that bring mathematics learning to life. I'm also a firm believer in leveraging technology to enhance our learning adventure.

 Education is a partnership between teachers, students, and parents. I am committed to maintaining open lines of communication and collaboration. Whether you have a question about an assignment, want to discuss your child's progress, or simply want to share insight, I'm here to listen and support.

I am genuinely excited to meet each of you and to learn about your unique strengths and passions. Together, we will navigate the curriculum, overcome challenges, and celebrate achievements. My goal is to instill a lifelong love for learning and equip you all with the skills needed to succeed not only in Mathematics but in all aspects of life.
