Hi there! I went to college at Colorado State University, graduating with a BS degree in Vocational Home Economics Education, in 1986. I started my Aiken High career in 1991 and over the past 30+ years I have developed a reputable Culinary Arts program. I earned a "Certified Secondary Foodservice Educator" Certificate from the National Restaurant Association in 2007. I was selected by the Education Foundation of the National Restaurant Association as the James Maynard Award Winner, the NRAEF's National Teacher of the Year, in 2004. I also earned my National Board Certification in 2009, renewing in 2019. During the 2014-15 school year, I was Aiken High's  Teacher of the Year.

Over the years, Aiken High culinary students have successfully competed in student organization competitions, including FCCLA, Skills USA and ProStart. A number of Food Service Industry certifications are available in our program, including ServSafe Food Handler and Manager, ProStart Certificate of Achievement, and OSHA 10. Students will participate in Service Learning and Work Based Learning opportunities, acquire employment and life skills, have fun and make precious memories in my class!
