"Walkers" are students who live within a mile radius of the school campus.  These students are allowed to walk home from school.  Students in 2nd grade and under must be accompanied by an older sibling or escort.  See link for necessary paperwork.  Byrd's crossing guard was on the local news for his excellence in his job.  Follow the link to see his story:
