Welcome to the 2023-2024 School Year!

My name is Y. Burgess-Massey and I have been a teacher here at Aiken High School since 2009, but have been teaching for nearly eighteen years. I chose this career after spending several years as a Youth Specialist and then as a Services Coordinator for an Infants and Toddlers Program. In my career, I have worked with individuals from birth to adulthood and undoubtedly love working to help others in finding their level of success.

My education includes a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology/Human Services; Master’s Degrees in Special Education, Curriculum and Instruction, and  Administration/ Supervision. 

I am so excited about returning this school year to work with all of my students, and I'm hoping that they are just as excited about learning as well. Furthermore, as we embark on this new year of block and modified year-around schedules, I am also eager to join my colleagues in co-teaching English 2

In my spare time, I do love to spend time with my family, read, travel, walk my dogs, go to the movies, explore new eateries and numerous other things that I've yet to fully explore.
