    Course: INTEGRATED BUSINESS APPLICATIONS 2 (NEW NAME: BUSINESS DATA APPLICATIONS 2021-22)

    9th – 12th Grade

    COURSE DESCRIPTION: The collection, manipulation, storage, and retrieval of data has become an important tool and indicator of business success. Decisions are made based on data analysis that impacts all parts of society. In Data Applications, students analyze different data sets, and collect, manipulate, store, secure, and retrieve data using electronic spreadsheets and database software applications. Students use problem-solving and critical thinking skills to prepare computational artifacts which will be used to make informed decisions using a real-world approach.

    COMPUTER REQUIRED: One computer per student with MS Office or alternative spreadsheet and database application software.

    OBJECTIVE: Given the necessary equipment, supplies, and facilities, the student will complete all of the following core standards successfully.

    COURSE CREDIT: 1 unit (120 hours)

    RECOMMENDED PREREQUISITE: Algebra 1

    • Supplies for projects (ex. Poster Board, Crayons, Glue, Shoe Box, Color Pencils, etc.)

    • Blue or Black Pen Only (no red or other colors)
    • Hand sanitizer
    • Tissue
    • Computer access at home or library
    • 1 Printer/copy paper (1)

    No flash drives, save all documents to OneDrive.

    Cell Phone Policy in My Class:

    No cell phone used in my class. They should be off and in your book bags not on desk. If you ask to go to the restroom your phone should be in your book bag not in your pocket or hands (you may leave it at the teacher’s desk).

    Notifications:

    • Homework and assignments are on the Schoology and teacher page.
    • Verbal or written contact to the parent via Talking Points. Your phone number and email address must be in PowerSchool for effective communication, which I rely on to provide you with essential information.
    • Please make sure your contact information is accurate in our school's database for effective communication and that you have filled out the Scholar information sheet.

    Rule and Consequences: (Please sign the Class Rule Agreement attached) grade.

    • Come to class ready and prepared each day.
    • Respect you, the teacher, and others.
    • Follow directions, pay attention, participate, and ask questions.
    • Take responsibility for your actions.

    Make-Up Assignments & Assessments Policy

    • If a student is absent for 2–5 days, an excused note is required.
    • The excused note will be handed in to the attendance office.
    • Students will be given # of days missed to turn in make-up work and make up assignments/assessments upon return to school.
    • For absences > 5 days, administration will determine the number of days allowed to make-up assignments and assessments.
    • Administration reserves the right to deny a student the privilege of making up assessments with their teachers after an absence.
    • If approved to make-up assignments for excused absences only, they will need be done on the date approved during ILT.

    Assessment Retake Policy

    • There are no assessment retakes, you are given 2-3 attempts on most assessments.

     

    Late Assignments Policy

     

     When will late assignments be accepted?

    •           Zero days late.

    Consequences for late assignments

    •           Grade of 0% for Late Assignments.

    What students should expect when turning in late assignments?

    •           Grade of 0% for Late Assignments.

    •           Approved late assignments for excused absences only are graded last which could take several weeks.
