Welcome to Chukker Creek Elementary!

My name is Denise Ashley. I am excited to read all that you will write about this year. We will also explore new characters and settings through the stories read this school year as well as take a journey through our American history. What a great adventure we will embark on together.

I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree from Charleston Southern University. I returned to school to complete my Post-Baccalaureate degree in Elementary Education (grades 2-6) from Western Governors University. I have also completed my Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Supervision at Charleston Southern University as well as my Middle Level ELA certification (grades 5-9). Currently, I am working toward my Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction. I love being a student as much as I love being a teacher!

I grew up in New Jersey, but moved to South Carolina to attend college. I have made South Carolina my home since 2002. A few years ago, I moved to Aiken with my husband and five children. One of my favorite things to do is to travel. My goal is to travel to each of the 50 United States. I also enjoy reading, baking, and spending time with my family.

I am passionate about learning and teaching. I believe the best teachers are those that never stop learning! There are lots of new, exciting, and fun things that we will be learning. I look forward to a great school year!
