SPRING 2024 INTERSESSION

  • April 1-4 is Intersession Week in Aiken County Public Schools, an opportunity made possible by the modified academic calendar implemented this year. District educators will offer intensive support to elementary, middle and high school students during Spring Intersession, as well as a limited number of slots available to students interested in  programs for academic acceleration.

Students have been identified for Intersession based on academic need, unit recovery, and/or attendance/time recovery and encouraged to enroll. This opportunity is being offered at no cost to identified students or their families and is designed as a way to address areas of academic need and support students’ success in a course and overall achievement in an individualized and/or small group setting.

Intersession Acceleration Opportunities

  • In addition to the offering for students identified for intensive support during Intersession, a limited number of spots are also available in pilot programs offered during Intersession for academic acceleration, including a Coding Camp as well as a Fine Arts opportunity. Both are open to Aiken County Public School students in grades 3-5. Registration opens Wednesday, March 13, at 4 p.m. for these Intersession Acceleration Programs and is offered on a first come-first served basis.

Coding Camp is being held at North Augusta Elementary, from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. and will allow students to explore coding and programming through various platforms, such as drones and 3D printing, Robots, and Makey Makey in real-world problem simulations.

Fine Arts Camp is being facilitated through our partnership with the Jesse Norman School of the Arts and will feature Photography, STEM Art & Design and Music. Fine Arts Camp is being held at Byrd Elementary, from 8 a.m.-1 p.m.

Breakfast and lunch will be provided each day of camp, Monday-Thursday, April 1-4. however students’ families will be responsible for their own transportation to and from the Coding Camp housed at North Augusta Elementary and Fine Arts offering at Byrd Elementary.
