Mrs. Rhett Sherman

Rhett Sherman is the K-2 reading interventionist at Hammond Hill Elementary School. She was named the 2022-23 Aiken County District Teacher of the Year. Mrs. Sherman is a North Augusta native and a product of Aiken County Public Schools.  She graduated from the University of South Carolina - Aiken with a Bachelor's degree in early childhood education and a Master of Education from Southern Wesleyan. This is her 18th year teaching at Hammond Hill Elementary. The first 16 of those years at Hammond Hill were spent teaching first grade and the last two years were spent teaching students phonics skills and reading strategies as the K-2 Reading Interventionist at Hammond Hill.

Mrs. Uyen Griffis

Uyen Griffis is an Early Learning Special Education Teacher at Hammond Hill Elementary School. She was named the 2023-24 Aiken County District Teacher of the Year. This July 2023, she will be celebrating 25 years of teaching in Aiken County. Mrs. Griffis has her Bachelor’s degree in Learning Disabilities and her Master of Education degree in Special Education from The University of South Florida in Tampa. She has taught young children and adults between the ages of 3-21 years who have varying exceptionalities and special talents. The best part of her job is collaborating with a team of experts and related service members who are willing and able to make a difference in the lives of all children and adults in Aiken County.

Mrs. Ola Martin

Ola Martin is an English teacher at South Aiken High School. She was named the 2021-22 Aiken County District Teacher of the Year. Mrs. Martin currently teaches English 2 and Yearbook. She has been teaching for 16 years and is just as passionate about her students today as she was the first day she started teaching! She loves Teacher Forum because she sees it as a place where teacher leaders can support one another and promote positivity within our profession.
