• What Makes AIS Unique

Just as each student stands out in their own way, so does AIS, a school committed to focusing on the whole child approach. Administration and staff will ensure each child is safe, healthy, engaged, supported and challenged while at AIS, which in turn will lead to long-term success for students.

  • Benefits of an Intermediate School

All sixth-grade students in Aiken will attend the same school with equal access to all programs and curriculum. This has many benefits, including:

    • Socially, attending a single-grade school enables students to participate in activities without the influence of older students
    • Academic programs are specifically designed to fit the unique needs of 11- and 12-year old students
    • Emotionally a single-grade school cultivates an environment that focuses on building confidence
    • Enhancing coordination between the six feeder elementary schools and the two middle schools
    • Establishing common expectations between the six elementary schools and AIS
    • Aligning similar academic programs that are offered at the middle schools
