My favorite scripture Proverbs 3:5-6 reads, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, lean not to your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path."  I had no idea that my father’s brief stint in the military would one day guide me to my position as Military Community Liaison for Aiken County.

My late father was drafted into the military in 1966. After serving for several years, he was diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy.  The aggressiveness of this disease led to his being discharged with full benefits from the military.  Some may view this as a curse ; however, I count it as a blessing.  His affiliation with the Army afforded my sisters and me the opportunity to a better life and access to furthering our educational endeavors.

I love being the Military Community Liaison. In this position, I am able to assist people from behind and still know that I am making a difference.  I genuinely care about people and believe that every person should be 100% supported in whatever situation they find themselves.  I recall, during one of S2S trainings we did an activity called Have you Filled a Bucket Today? Surprisingly, one of the students decided to fill my bucket.  His statement to me was "Thank you for helping with all of this- even though you are behind the scenes". Upon reflection, that is how I feel about this job assignment.  I am dedicated to working behind the scenes to help all military families in our Purple Star District  with relocation, deployment, loss and/ or academic planning.

I have been employed with  Aiken County Public Schools since October 2012. My husband and I have been married for 27 years and we have been blessed with 3 children and 2 grandchildren.
