Masters in General Education, Clemson University Master in Special Education, Clemson University Masters in Administration, University of South Carolina

Ms. Cassie Cagle

I am new in the Director role at XSEL this year but I’m not new to education or to Aiken County Public Schools.  I have been serving students, parents, and communities across South Carolina as an educator for 24 years.  I was born in Columbia, South Carolina, but moved to Aiken at age five and have always considered Aiken to be my home. I attended Aiken Elementary; Schofield Middle School, and I am a proud graduate of Aiken High School.

Upon graduation from Aiken High School, I attended Clemson University, following in the footsteps of my father, mother, grandfather, and uncles. While at Clemson, I was an officer in a Sorority and played rugby for three years on the club level team until an injury during my senior year. I graduated from Clemson with a degree in special education and regular education.  I was fortunate to receive a scholarship to attend graduate school at Clemson in Special Education with an Emphasis in Math Inclusion the following year.

I taught special education in a self-contained setting in Pickens County and Rock Hill School District for five years.  While in Rock Hill, I also taught third grade and served as a Program Teacher for Instruction supporting other teachers at Sunset Park Elementary School.  I was nominated to represent Rock Hill Schools in a program called Grow Your Own Leaders.  Through this program, I was able to attend the University of South Carolina where I received my Master’s Degree in Administration while also working in Rock Hill Schools.  I served as an assistant principal in two different schools and served as the district compliance officer within the special education department.

In 2013, I returned to work in Ï㽶ӰÊÓ to serve as the Director of Special Programs.  After seven years in that role, I returned to the classroom in 2020 to teach special education in a self-contained setting and loved the opportunity to work more closely with the students. People would describe me as a person who never meets a stranger, is adventurous and energetic.  In my free time, I enjoy playing golf, playing tennis, watching Clemson Football, catching up on my favorite TV shows, listening to live music, trying new foods, and exploring new locations.

Ms. Elizabeth House

My name is Elizabeth ("Liz") House, and my passion for teaching and learning has driven my career for over sixteen years. My educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and dual Master's degrees in Early Childhood Education and Special Education. I am a certified Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultant, and a nationally certified Educational Diagnostician.

My experiences working in public schools across different states have influenced and shaped me into the professional I am today.  For ten years, I served as a dedicated self-contained special education teacher, where I implemented innovative teaching methodologies rooted in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).

Transitioning from a teacher role, I embraced a new professional journey, assuming a position on a child study team as a Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultant. As a Learning Consultant, I worked with students spanning from preschool to high school, functioning as an educational and behavioral specialist on a multidisciplinary team.

My family and I are new to the Aiken area. My husband and I are blessed with two children, a 12-year-old son and 10-year-old daughter. As I embark on an exciting new chapter in Aiken, I'm honored to have the opportunity to contribute to the shared mission and vision of the XSEL team, dedicated to the social-emotional learning journey of our students.
