Substitute teachers uploading grades in Schoology

  • SETUP FOR SYNCING TO POWER TEACHER PRO

Schoology course administrators (temporary and/or long terms subs) can create assignments* and sync grades to Power School if the original teacher (or the Curriculum Technology Specialist) has set up the grades, gradebook and Power School app to sync. They do not need have the Power School log in from the original teacher to sync grades to the teacher’s Power Teacher Pro profile. At interim time and quarter end, however, someone will need to do some gradebook maintenance to ensure correct syncing and grade calculations.  See here for prerequisite setup that need to be in place.

*The term ”assignment” here refers to any graded Schoology materials (Assignment, Assessment, Test/Quiz, Discussion.)

    CREATING ASSIGNMENTS IN SCHOOLOGY

Any new assignments created by the sub will sync to Power Teacher Pro if you use the following techniques:

    • Ensure that you set a date for the assignment.
    • Select a grading category.
    • Keep the check box in the Sync to SIS box.

    SCHOOLOGY’S POWER SCHOOL APP:

After the assignment is graded assignments/quiz/assessment/discussion, go to the Power School App.

    • Locate the assignment, and click the circular arrow to send the grades to Power Teacher Pro.
    • Anytime you update grades, come back to their PowerSchool app in Schoology, click the arrow to update grades.
    • ATTENTION: If you ever delete the assignment or make it ungraded in Schoology, it will need to be manually deleted in Power School’s official Power Teacher Pro account.
