Dr. Patricia Hanks was sworn in as the newest Aiken County Board of Education member during the November 17, 2020 regularly scheduled Board meeting, representing District 4.

She is a retired optometrist and U.S. Navy veteran, and has called North Augusta home for the last 25 years. She and her husband have three children that attended Aiken County Public Schools, two who graduated from North Augusta High School and one that graduated from SC Governors School for Math and Science.

Dr. Hanks is excited to serve the North Augusta community as she is passionate about education. She has tutored many students over the years and said she ran for this position to take a more active role in enhancing academic success for all students, and be an advocate for teachers.

“I am thankful and humbled by the confidence and trust shown by the voters who supported me,” Hanks said. “On their behalf, I will work hard to ensure the best interest of our children, teachers and Aiken County as a whole, are always a top priority. My sleeves are rolled up and I am more than ready to do the job!”
