Child Find Screenings

  • Aiken County conducts monthly screenings and evaluations for children ages 3-21 who are not enrolled in the public school setting.

When children in Kindergarten through grade 12 are enrolled by their parents in private schools in the 香蕉影视 service area or are homeschooled, Aiken County Public Schools has continuing responsibility under the Federal IDEA-2004 for child find and are charged with locating, evaluating, identifying, and reevaluating children with disabilities.  This includes children with disabilities who reside in another district or even state but attend a private school that is located within the boundaries of the 香蕉影视.

The IDEA makes it clear that a child with a disability in a private school has no individual right to special education or related services.  Rather, the 香蕉影视 must ensure that a proportionate share of federal funding is used to provide services to this population of children. For those who receive services, the amount and type of services also may differ from the services the child would receive if placed in a public school by the parents.

More information about the screening and evaluation process as well as links to submit a referral can be found here:

If a private school or parent/guardian of a private school/homeschooled student believes a student may have a disability, the student's parent/guardian should contact 香蕉影视 and complete the appropriate referral link below.
