Mr. Gary Miller

My name is Gary Miller, and I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Education from Eastern Illinois University, and Master’s Degree in Science Education from the University of Illinois-Springfield (UIS).  I was a member of a small team that did astronomical work at the UIS Henry Barber Research Observatory, as well as a stint at the Lowell Observatory in Flagstaff, Arizona.

I taught Physical Science, Meteorology, Space Science and Astronomy, coached football, and served as district athletic director at Williamsville (IL) High School.  I also had the opportunity to accompany students on Educational Tours of Europe during the summers.

I come from a family devoted to education. My mother, both of my sisters and one of my daughters were class valedictorians; one brother was a middle school principal, and a brother-in-law taught high school music.  My daughter Alison currently teaches high school math in Plainfield, Illinois.  Another daughter, Melissa, works in commercial transportation technology in Neenah, Wisconsin.  My wife Linda and I moved to Aiken in December 2020.  Linda is a member of one of the largest genealogical associations in the country and loves doing research in that area.

I especially enjoy the physics of a well-executed golf shot these days whenever I get the chance.  I also look forward to watching our Jackets perform not only scholastically, but also in the many and varied extra-curricular opportunities here at North Augusta High School.
