Greetings North Augusta High School!

I hope you are all excited for a new year of learning and growing through music for the 2023-2024 school year! My name is Ms. Samantha Newcomb, and I am entering my fifth year teaching at North Augusta as the Director of Orchestras. I will also be teaching Music Appreciation in the Fall, and Guitar 2/3 in the Spring. A native of Fayetteville, NC and Terry Sanford High School, I graduated from the University of South Carolina in May 2019 with a Bachelor of Music in Music Education with an emphasis in instrumental music. I am a French horn and guitar player with over thirteen years of musical experience in a variety of ensembles. While at USC, I had the opportunity to perform with the Symphony Orchestra, Symphonic Winds, Wind Ensemble, Basketball Pep Band, and USC's marching band- The Carolina Band. I also have experience with drum corps as a member of the Blue Stars Drum and Bugle Corps hornline in 2017. I spend my summers with the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps as the Assistant Tour Director. Professional affiliations include Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity, the National Association for Music Educators, and the South Carolina Music Educators Association. It is my belief that all students possess a passion for music before their journey through music education ever begins. It is my job as a music educator to harness and strengthen this passion through the process of learning, creating, and performing music.
