MASTER GUNNERY SERGEANT STEPHEN WAYNE THOMPSON JR.

Master Gunnery Sergeant Thompson was born on December 14, 1973 in Lancaster, SC.  He enlisted in the Marine Corps Delayed Enlistment Program on February 27, 1992 and reported for Recruit Training on October 27, 1992 at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, SC where he graduated in January 1993.  Private Thompson was then transferred to Marine Combat Training (MCT) at Camp Lejeune, NC.  

 Upon completion of MCT Private Thompson was sent to across the street to Basic Administration School for Unit Diary Clerks.  Upon graduation Private First Class Thompson was transferred to HMH-463, MAG-24, Marine Corps Air Station, (MCAS) Kaneohe Bay HI where he worked as a unit diary and service record book ( SRB) clerk. 

 In March 1994 Lance Corporal Thompson received orders to 2DBN 3MAR 1STMEB, where he served as a Unit Diary Clerk, Service Record Book Clerk, and Travel Clerk.  September 29, 1995 Corporal Thompson was transferred to the Headquarters 3MAR 3MARDIV where he served as unit diary clerk, SRB clerk, travel clerk and mail clerk. May 26, 1997 Corporal Thompson was dropped from active duty and joined the Active Reserve program on July 7, 1997 and was sent to Marine Air Group – 49 (MAG) Detachment B, Newburgh NY.

 While at MAG-49 he was promoted to Sergeant and served as the administration section chief. In October 1999, Sergeant Thompson received orders to Naval Air Station Atlanta, GA, assigned to MAG-42 where he served as a Unit Diary Chief and Personnel Chief.  In June of 2002, Staff Sergeant Thompson was transferred to MACS-23 4^th Marine Aircraft Wing, Aurora CO as the Personnel Chief. 

 In June of 2005, Gunnery Sergeant Thompson was transferred to Inspector – Instructor Staff, Greensboro NC where he served as the Administration Chief and Company Gunnery Sergeant. On June 9, 2009 Gunnery Sergeant Thompson was transferred to Marine  Air Control Group-48, Great lakes IL where he served as the Administration Chief and the HQ SNCOIC. Gunnery Sergeant was promoted to the rank of Master Sergeant on December 1, 2009. 

 During July 2013 Master Sergeant Thompson reported to Marine Forces Reserve, to assume the duties as the SNCOIC of Installation Personnel Administration Center.  Master Sergeant Thompson was promoted to the rank of Master Gunnery Sergeant on March 1, 2014. Master Gunnery Sergeant Thompson is married to Tracye Nichole Thompson.  They have two children Makayla, and Zachery.
