• Pre-Requisite: Completion of Computer Service & Repair & Fundamentals of Computing/IT Fundamentals. 

    The Advanced Computer Repair and Service course isa continuation of the Computer Repair and Service course. It prepares students to perform advanced, detailed tasks related to computer repair. Students receive instruction in operating systems, security, mobile devices, and troubleshooting. Laboratory activities provide instruction in installation, configuration, operation, maintenance, security, troubleshooting, and repair of industry-standard operating systems in accordance with industry certification standards. Students will be introduced to TestOut software. Students who successfully complete the level 1 and level 2 courses will be prepared to sit for the TestOut PC Pro A+, TestOut Windows Client Pro, and/or Comp TIA A+ certification exams.

     

    Students who complete both years of computer repair & the pre-requisite are CTE pathway completers and will receive a CTE cord & pin. Pathway completers are also recognized annually at our district CTE Completer ceremony prior to graduation. 

    Careers in Information Support and Services involve IT deployment, including implementing computer systems and software, providing technical assistance, and managing information systems. Successful IT deployment - implementation of computer systems and software, provision of technical assistance, creation of technical documentation, and management of information systems - is critical to the success of most 21st century organizations. People with expertise in Information Support and Services are in high demand for a variety of positions in organizations of all sizes and types, doing work such as integrating multiple databases at a global investment company, enabling employees to share information between international offices, and improving service to customers.
